Ayurvedic Sanskrit is a specific register of the language. When you have spent 14 years helping BAMS students and faculty understand why Charaka chose a particular case ending in a particular sutra — not just what it says but why it is constructed that way — you develop a depth of textual and grammatical knowledge that goes well beyond teaching conversation or chanting. My students at Pitch to Planet get that depth regardless of why they are learning Sanskrit. Whether you are a yoga teacher or a BAMS graduate, you deserve to understand the language, not just repeat it.

What made you want to teach Sanskrit to an international, non-academic audience?

I spent 14 years watching students who genuinely wanted to understand Sanskrit — who loved Ayurveda or yoga or the Gita — struggle because the only resources available to them were either too academic or too superficial. Nobody was teaching them to actually speak. I knew the methodology. I had seen what works with students at every level of prior knowledge. Pitch to Planet gave me the platform to reach people I would never have met otherwise — and to prove that Sanskrit is for everyone who is willing to speak it.

What does being a Gold Medallist in Sanskrit mean in terms of how you teach?

It means the grammar is completely natural to me — I do not have to think about it any more than a native English speaker thinks about past tense formation. That frees me entirely to focus on the student in front of me: their pronunciation, their comprehension, their specific confusion, their particular breakthrough. The expertise becomes invisible in the best possible way. The student just finds themselves speaking Sanskrit.
